Types of Membership
Class A Membership
Open to individuals who are in positions where they are responsible for the breeding, (or in the case of apomictic and vegetative crops, selecting) of turfgrass varieties subject to a peer review process. Such processes include Plant Variety Review (PVR), Plant Patent (PP) or Plant Variety Protection (PVP). Individuals may be elected to the Board of Directors and may hold office within the corporation.
Class B Membership
Open to individuals with full time public sector appointments including research, extension, and education faculty and staff. Class B membership shall also be open to individuals with full-time student status. Individuals in this class are non-voting members, but shall be afforded all other rights provided to other membership classes concerning annual meetings and notification of process.
Class C Membership
Open to corporate entities, allied industries and individuals with an interest in the breeding and development of improved turfgrass varieties. Members of this class are non-voting members but shall be afforded all other rights provided to other membership classes concerning annual meetings and notification of process.
Class D Membership
Honorary membership. Class D members will be nominated and elected by the Board of Directors and shall be persons who have provided exceptional service to the turfgrass industry. In addition, persons holding the following positions will be ex-officio Class D members: Turfgrass Examiner for the United States Plant Variety Protection Office, Executive Director of the National Turfgrass Evaluation Program, Chair of the National Grass Variety Review Board. Individuals in this class are non-voting members but shall be afforded all other rights provided to other membership classes concerning annual meetings and notification of process.
